                                              Isaac Asimov           

                         Isaac Asimov was born on January 2, 1920 in Petrovichi, Smolensk Oblast, Russia, Soviet Union. He died on April 6, 1992 at the age of 72, in Brooklyn , New York City. Asimov was an American writer and Professor of biochemistry at Boston University. He was known for his works of science fiction and popular science. Asimov was a prolific writer who wrote or edited more than 500 books and 90,000 letters and postcards. His books have been published in 9 of 10 major categories of Dewey Decimal Classification. Some his books that were converted into movies were “I, Robot” starring Will Smith, “ Bicentennial Man” starring Robin Williams, NightFall, Gandahar (French animated Science fantasy film). Asimov won several times The Hugo Award for Best Novel. Asimov had a Bachelor of Science, Master of Arts, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. He was also a Alma Mater at Columbia University.

                     Asimov’s parents were Anna Rachel and father Judah Asimov, a family of Jewish Millers. He came to America at the age of 3 and became a citizen at the age of 8. His parents only spoke to him in Yiddish and English that’s why he never learned Russian. After his parents became established they owned a succession of candy stores. Being exposed to Newspaper and magazines influence his lifelong love of written words.

                     Asimov was married twice, his first marriage to Gertrude Blugerman, had 2 kids, David and Robyn Joan. They got divorced in 1973. Asimov 2nd marriage was to Janet Opal Jeppson, They stay together to the end of his time. In 1977, Asimov suffered a heart attack. In December 1983, he had triple bypass surgery, during which he contracted HIV from a blood transfusion. When his HIV status was understood, his physicians warned that if he published it, the ANTI-AIDS prejudice would likely extend to his family members. He died in NYC and was cremated. His brother Stanley reported the cause of death as heart and kidney failure. Until 10 years later, Asimov’s wife Janet and his daughter Robyn confessed the truth.

                   My reflection on how well I did? I think, I did a pretty good job due to that we had only 5 minutes. I did the best possible, This author is so extraordinary, he turned complicated information and turn it into readable, interesting writing. What a shame he didn’t stay around longer. The Department of Health in the 80’s weren’t taking the precaution that needed to be taken. There were also high volumes of people with Hepatitis C. At that time the Department of Health wasn’t testing the blood that people donated at the blood bank.
